Target wants to open at the Capitola Mall

The San Jose Mercury News reports Target applied for a renovation of the old Gottschalks store at the Capitola Mall.

There will be a public hearing on October 7th.

Gottschalks Building Up For Foreclosure Sale

Unable to find a replacement tenant for Gottschalks at the Capitola Mall, the developer has defaulted on an $11.95 million loan and turned the two-story, salmon-colored building that housed the department store back to the lender.

The building at 1825 41st Ave. is scheduled for a foreclosure sale Tuesday at 10am, a year after the department store closed its doors.

 

Gluten Free Shopping and Food Prep in Capitola

Do you or someone in your family need to eat a gluten free diet? Come out to New Leaf Community Market next Wednesday to learn how to cook that way in style. Nutrition educator Becky Mahony will offer tips on gluten-free shopping and cooking during free store tours at New Leaf on 41st Avenue. Pre-registration is required. Call 466-9060

Grind out Hunger in Capitola

Grind out Hunger set up shop outside Whole Foods on 41st Avenue last Saturday. They were collecting food for young kids in Santa Cruz County. People shopping there could either pick out items to donate or buy a $5 bundle of food that included beans, peanut butter and tuna.

New Pay Meters Coming to Capitola's Esplanade

Forget the old parking meters, new pay stations are coming to the Capitola Village. Instead of carrying change around, all you will need is a credit card.
