Capitola City Council Votes to Block Subdivision

The Capitola City Council voted unanimously to block the owner of Surf and Sand Mobile Home Park from sudividing the park into dozens of individual lots. The council chambers were packed last night as council members gave their votes.

Owner Randy Reed hoped to subdivide the lots and then sell the properties to the people already living there. The residents argued this would price them out of their homes and force them to move.

Mayor Sam Storrey said one of the reason's for the unanimous decision was the owners voted 63-1 to block the subdivision.

The mayor did say they expect this decision to be taken to court.
